Valentinian I, 364-375. Solidus (Gold, 22 mm, 4.44 g, 5 h), Antiochia, 365. D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian I to right. Rev. RESTITVTOR REI PVBLICAE / ANTΓ Valentinian I standing front in military attire, head to right, holding labarum inscribed with staurogram in his right hand and Victory on globe in his left. Depeyrot 23/1. RIC 2d.iv var. (unlisted officina). Extremely rare. Sharply struck, lustrous and with an excellent portrait. Tiny marks and with very light deposits, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From an American collection, ex Roma E-Auction 64, 28 November 2019, 935 and from a hoard found in West Norfolk, Sunday 1st July 2018-Monday 9th July 2018 (Portable Antiquities Scheme ID: NMS-488B7B).
